Welcome to UFCW Local 1445

Dear Local 1445 brothers and sisters,

Today the working families of New England are being pushed to their financial limits. The housing crisis; the soaring cost of home heating, fuel, and other utilities; layoffs; city and state programs that are suffering major cutbacks, if not total cancellation - all are taking a serious toll on families' resources.

The United Way of Massachusetts has a long history of standing up for those most in need. For more than 60 years there has been a strong relationship between the labor movement and the United Way. The United Way has always supported our hardworking UFCW Local 1445 brothers and sisters during their times of need, whether it was during layoffs or personal tragedies, or during difficult negotiations for better working conditions and benefits.

Now it is time for those of us who can to stand with the United Way in helping maintain Massachusetts as a state for families to live and raise their children. Please take time this holiday season to help those who are most in need by volunteering your time or financial support to the United Way.

In solidarity,

Rick Charette, president
UFCW Local 1445
